INDO-SKYTHIANS. Azes, circa 58-12 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 2.21 g, 1 h), Indian standard, Pushkalavati. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΝ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ / ΑΖΟΥ King on horseback to right, holding spear; below, scepter. Rev. Maharajasa rajarajasa mahatasa Ayasa' ('of Great King, King of Kings Azes the Great' in Kharoshthi) Athena Promachos advancing left, holding shield on left arm and brandishing thunderbolt with her right; to left, monogram; to right, Kharoshthi letter. HGC 12, 646. Senior, type 90. Beautifully toned. About extremely fine.
